Julie Cancio Harper

Experience

I began my publishing career as an Editorial Assistant at Pearson Allyn & Bacon in 1998.  When I became a freelancer the following year, my early projects came from A&B colleagues and included proofreading, project management and permissions.  Soon I began offering my skills to other publishers, book packagers and individual authors.  I have since cleared permissions for books published by Allyn & Bacon, BookMasters, Hayden-McNeil, Haworth Press, Jossey-Bass, McGraw-Hill and Prentice Hall Business Publishing.

In 2007 I spent four months as a Senior Permissions Editor in the Contracts and Legal Department at Sage Publications in Thousand Oaks, California.  It was a fantastic opportunity to put all my freelance copyright and permissions knowledge to use inside a publishing house.  In addition to overseeing permissions acquisition for Sage, Pine Forge Press and Corwin Press books, I also gained experience granting permissions.
